Silver and Gilt Repeating & Alarm Carriage Clock
A fine repeater carriage clock with alarm function. Intricately painted enamel dial of very pale duck egg blue, with the roman numerals within white shield cartouches. The good quality two train movement, striking and repeating on a coiled blued steel gong, with fine original silvered ‘English lever’ platform escapement visible through the bevelled glass top viewing window. The very unusual silver plated, gilt and bronze Anglaise Riche case, with corinthian pilasters at the corners and a dentil entablature with a flared base and top.
The clock dates from the mid 19th Century circa 1860, and has a high quality french movement made for the continental market, possibly by Japy Freres.
