Petit Sonnerie Carriage Clock in Gorge Case with original Gilding
A handsome Petit Sonnerie Carriage clock in a Gorge case retaining much of its original gilding, the eight day movement with original silvered lever escapement, strikes on two nested bells, striking the hours on the larger bell and the quarters on both bells, the repeater action will repeat the time to the nearest fifteen minutes.
This clock has a two train movement of excellent quality and can be set to striking or silent with the lever in the base. The white enamel roman dial with Breguet style moon hands is in unblemished condition, as it the entire clock with only minor wear to the gilding commensurate with age.
This clock would have been made in Paris in the 1860’s by one of the main carriage clock producers for another retailer. Although we cannot find a makers mark, the platform is stamped F.R. and there are striking similarities between this clock on others by Henri Jacot.
